Roads highways and pavements

Bedfordshire County Council is responsible for the improvement, maintenance and development of the public highway network in Bedfordshire, excluding the M1 motorway and the trunk roads A1, A5, and A421 which are the responsibility of The Highways Agency|.

Not all roads are public highways, some are privately owned and may have special conditions attached to their use.
