Door to door

Where can I go?

You can use Door-to-Door for many kinds of journeys. For example, you can use it to go shopping, or to visit friends or relatives, or for work or educational purposes. You may not, however, use it to make a journey normally provided by Social Services, the Education Department or the Ambulance Service, so you cannot go to hospital to receive treatment (although you can go to visit someone).

You can travel anywhere within Bedford Borough Council area. The service operates Mondays to Saturdays.

Registration

Before you can use the service, fill in the attached application form and send it to the address shown. There is a once-only membership fee of £1 plus an annual subscription fee of £3. If your membership is accepted, you will be sent a card showing your membership number, which you should quote each time you make a booking.

Fares

Having registered, you will be able to book to use Door-to-Door as often as you like. It would help if you could have your fare ready when the driver collects you. Fares are generally comparable with ordinary fares on local bus services. Please ask the fare when booking.

As a registered member of Door-to-Door, you may qualify for a Travel Permit for Dial-a-Ride Services. Details will be sent to you when your application for membership is accepted.

You may hold a permit for one of the Dial-a-Ride services only, and if you already hold a Travel Permit for ordinary bus services, you must surrender it when you apply for a Dial-a-Ride Permit. This scheme is financed by Bedfordshire County Council, Bedford Borough Council, Mid Beds and South Beds District Councils.
