Q. How do I find a list of current jobs?

A.  There are several ways to view our current jobs, visit the Jobs and Careers section and click on the related links to view our current jobs in the service areas. As well as advertising jobs on this website, we publicise jobs in local newspapers and the trade press.

Our Employment Vacancy Bulletin is distributed to County receptions, Job Centres, Libraries, Voluntary Organisations and Community Centres. Our Teaching Vacancy Bulletin is distributed to all schools.

Q.  How can I find out more information about a current job?

A.   Most of the jobs advertised provide contact details for you to discuss the job in more detail within the department. If there is no contact given in the advertisement please contact the Recruitment and Retention Team|.

Q. Does Bedfordshire County Council accept CV’s?

A.  We use an application form, rather than asking for CVs to make sure that we treat all applicants fairly and equally. The application form ensures that all applicants present their information in the same standardised format and only tell us what we need to know.

Please do not attach a CV - even if you do, we will not consider it. All applications must be submitted on an official application form.

Q. I am having difficulty applying?

A.  Please read the guidance in the How to Apply section to see if this helps with your query. If you are still having difficulty with your application form please contact the Recruitment and Retention Team|.

Q. How will I know if you have received my application?

A.   It is not company policy to inform applicants that we have received your application, however, where possible we will notify you whether or not you have been shortlisted for interview by email or letter.

Q. Can I apply for more than one job?

A.  You can apply for any job at Bedfordshire County Council as long as you meet the requirements.

For the majority of jobs at Bedfordshire County Council our online application form allows you to complete your application form electronically and submit your application direct to us in a quick and convenient way. Applying online lets you submit your application form to apply for another job you will only need to re-enter your additional information to show how you meet the requirements of the job.

Q. What if I forget my password for the online application?

A.  The website can help if this happens. Click on the My Application Account above and indicate that you have forgotten your password, an email will be sent to your registered email address with your log-on details. This should happen instantly; if you have any problems, please contact the Recruitment Team on 01234 276115.

Q. Why do I have to submit the Equality & Diversity monitoring form?

A.  Bedfordshire County Council recognises and actively promotes the benefits of a diverse workforce and is committed to treating all employees with dignity and respect regardless of race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief. We have an Equal Opportunities Policy which aims to make sure that we treat everyone fairly. The form is used to help us monitor this policy and will be separated from your application form. We will not make this information available to those involved in the selection process.

A.   We will notify you by email or letter if you have been shortlisted for interview.

Q. I have missed the closing date?
