Adult Services work with a number of voluntary organisations to provide services.

Age Concern Bedfordshire is an independent local charity serving older people throughout Bedfordshire, offering advice and support in a range of areas. Handyperson and Home Help schemes offer help at a subsidised cost with general household tasks and some maintenance and repair work.

The Guild House opens from 10am until 4pm every weekday. offering a wide variety of daily activities for people over 50. Lunch and light refreshments are available. Activities include hairdressing and chiropody service, day trips, assisted holidays, advice and support services, carpet bowls, snooker, table tennis, line dancing, craftwork, whist, quizzes and many more.

Anchor Staying Put is a not -for-profit home improvement agency run by Anchor Trust, in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council, Bedford Borough Council and Bedfordshire Primary Care Trust. They help older, disabled, vulnerable homeowners and tenants of Housing Associations access housing grants and loans to help them 'stay put' in their homes in comfort and security. They will organise small repairs, major improvements or adaptations to the home by offering confidential advice, support and assistance.

BECHAR is a drop-in Day Centre for the homeless and rootless. The main aim is to support anyone over 16 who needs help to restore their dignity and health. A variety of facilities and support services are available.

Recruits, trains and supports volunteers to act as advocates for people with learning disabilities throughout the county. The advocates enable people with learning disabilities to access services and to achieve the same rights which others would expect as part of their everyday lives.

Advocacy support available for people aged 60 and over to help to resolve problems. Advocactes can assist people to get independent advice and information and support them in making their own choices and decisions. The service is free and confidential. Volunteer advocates receive induction and ongoing training.
