Deaf and hearing impairment team

The Team works with deaf and hearing impaired people of all ages, including those with dual sensory loss, throughout Bedfordshire (excluding Luton).  Clients will be offered an assessment of their hearing /communication difficulties and if they meet the Council’s eligibility criteria|, can be provided with services to enable them to live as independently as possible in the community.

Services provided include:

  • Information and advice and support
  • Specialist equipment
  • Direct Payments to purchase specialist equipment or practical support
  • Home visits where appropriate
  • Signposting to other Agencies
  • Help with completing financial applications eg. Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance forms
  • Deaf and hearing impairment awareness training.
