Hospice care for children

Hospices provide care for terminally ill people whatever the condition and are often specialists in pain relief for the condition. They also give support to carers both in the hospice and at home.

Hospices are run by charities, they organise fund-raising activities to pay for the care they provide.

Admission is arranged through your doctor, district nurse or hospital consultant or you can contact the hospice yourself. Some private nursing and rest homes also specialise in the care of the terminally ill.
Your doctor or hospital consultant should know of such homes in your area.
