Carers

Welcome! This section of our website provides information and advice for carers. 

Carers are the unpaid, often unsung, heroes who care for friends or relatives who are ill, frail or have a disability or sensory impairment.

Family carers1 in 8 people are, or will be, carers. As people live longer with more complex health and social care needs, the number and importance of caring will increase.  

A range of support is available to you as a carer such as:

  • Information, advice and guidance;
  • Taking a break from caring;
  • Access to social, work and educational opportunities;
  • Help to continue caring for as long as you choose to; and
  • Support for Young Carers

Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, Health Services and many Charities are working together to ensure national law and guidance makes a real difference to you as a carer in Bedfordshire.  

Whether you are a carer, think you might be, or know someone who is, now is the time to celebrate caring and get information that will help you and those around you.
