Alternatives to landfill - local charities in need

The following list details some of the facilities in Bedfordshire that will accept most commercial waste types including many recyclables.

Freecycle

Any article that can be reused and are in a good condition. Items must be free, no delivery involved-all items must be picked up.

Grassroots and entirely non-profit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about re-use and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Membership is free

Quality reusable items. Soft funishings (which must have a flammable label on them), electric cookers, fridge freezers, 3 piece suites, sofas, wardrobes, computor desks, tables and chairs , small electrical items.

Will not accept single arm chairs, anything over 5ft wide, gas cookers, washing machines, dressing table and old fashioned side boards.
