Making and submitting a planning application

From the 6 April 2008, a national standard planning application form (1APP) is being introduced by the Government, to be used by all planning authorities. BedfordshireCounty Council is now using the 1APP form for all applications apart from those required for Minerals Applications. Please ensure you use the correct form. If in doubt please contact us using the details below.

You are reminded that the County Council is ONLY responsible for Minerals and Waste Applications and those Planning Applications made for its own development eg schools and libraries. All other applications must be submitted to the relevant District Council. Our main contact details as well as those of the District Councils are on our 'Contact Us'| page.
 
Planning Application Forms, their associated documents and any plans for Minerals and Waste and/or County Council developments can be submitted either :

1. as a paper or hard copy application to the Development Control Section here at County Hall using the postal address shown below,

OR,

2. electronically as an e-mail attachment using the e-mail address shown below.

3. electronically via CDRom or DVD sent to us using the postal address shown below.

Pre-Application Advice

We do advise applicants to seek pre-application advice in the majority of cases, and the County Council has published several free advice leaflets relating to its Planning Service. Further advice & guidance can also be obtained from the Planning Portal - a website designed to provide comprehensive planning advice and information for anyone who wants to use the planning system. In addition a free booklet called 'Creating better places to live: A guide to the planning system in England'. was published in 2005 by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) as a guide to the reformed planning system designed for members of the public.
