Schemes of work that enable Bedfordshire's path network to be opened up and maintained in line
with national targets.
Priority areas
Area Rights of Way Officers plan their work based on the details on the database, population size and future growth in the vicinity. The current priority areas are:

Seasonal Vegetation Programme
An established maintenance programme that ensures the cutting of surface vegetation along a large proportion of the path network at least twice between May and September. Local contractors undertake most of the work, controlled by our Contracts Officer. We also pay a number of farmers or landowners to do such work on their path network.
Capital funding
A source of funding for major rights of way work such as large bridges, surfacing and bank revetment works. The works planned for 2008/9 have yet to be decided but will be tied in with the service Business Plan:
