Bedfordshire's countryside

Visit, explore, experience and enjoy the Bedfordshire countryside.

Bedfordshire has a wide range of landscapes to experience. Ranging from the fantastic views at the Chalk hills of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the south, to the contrasting wooded hills of the Greensand Ridge which cross the middle of Bedfordshire as well as the river valleys of the Great Ouse, Ouzel, Ivel and Flit.

Bedfordshire has so much to offer, with an enormous wealth of heritage, archaeology, wildlife, nature and habitats within the rural and urban landscapes.

Our countryside adds value to our lives in so many ways, both directly and indirectly. It can provide health and social benefits and bring increased knowledge of the environment and climate, and with valuable areas of attractive space between our urban regions, we have room to breath, relax and take in the view on the way home from work.

These web links provide a wide range of ways to explore and learn more about our countryside.

Improvements to these pages in the New Year will provide specific information for Walkers, Cyclists and Horse Riders.
