Developing policies and strategies for raising standards across all settings that are members of the Bedfordshire Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) including maintained schools, private, independent and voluntary providers.

Providing information for parents, carers, settings, employers and potential trainees and employees on a range of early education and childcare issues
Managing the Local Authority's (LA) nursery schools.

Implementing the government's infant class size initiative and Key Stage 2 class size initiative in lower schools in the County.

Working in partnership with other units of the County Council and a range of external organisations to implement the County Council's Community Vision objectives and the above.
