School property issues
The main focus for School Property Issues relates to asset management planning for schools from three perspectives. These are the:-
-
condition - which relates to the physical state of the premises to ensure safe and continuous operation;
-
suitability - how well the premises meet the needs of the pupils and staff in order to raise educational standards; and
-
sufficiency - the quantity and organisation of places within schools.
The team responsibilities are embraced by asset management planning include the identification of the need for school places, the negotiation with housing developers for contributions towards education provision, the prioritisation and implementation of projects from Local Authority capital resources and the approval of school projects from devolved and delegated capital funding.
