Buzzing! Beehive Children's Centre opens in Dunstable

7 October 2008

A brand new children's centre in Dunstable officially opened its doors today at a ceremony with David Bell, the former Chief Executive Officer for Bedfordshire County Council and now the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Education and Skills, as well as parents, carers and children from the local area.

Beehive Opening

The Beehive Children Centre provides high quality integrated services such as health, education, family support and children care to meet the needs of families and the local community. Located on the grounds of Beecroft Lower School, parents, carers, and children living in the Northfields, Dunstable Central and Chiltern wards can now get stuck in with a broad range of activities.

Councillor David Reedman, Bedfordshire County Council Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “I’m really pleased that we are opening this wonderful children’s centre. We’re committed to giving every child the best possible start in life. The Beehive Children Centre, whose name was chosen by local families themselves, will help meet the needs of local families by providing services that will have a lasting and positive impact.”

The Beehive Children’s Centre works in conjunction with a local project Living and Learning Extended Service to provide a broader range of activities for children of all ages, parents and carers in the community.
