Information for Suppliers

These pages provide a wide range of information for prospective and current suppliers and contractors to Bedfordshire County Council.

Please note: Unitary transition - contracting with Bedfordshire County Council

Bedfordshire County Council will cease to operate on 1st April 2009 and their functions, assets and liabilities transferred to two new unitary councils, Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council.

From 16th April 2008 until 1st April 2009 the County Council is unable to enter into certain contracts without prior approval by the body responsible for the setting up of the new arrangements. Contracts covered by these arrangements may include contracts for the supply of goods and services, and for the sale or purchase of land or property.

If you are considering entering into a contract, including relating to the sale or purchase of land or property from Bedfordshire County Council before the 31st March 2009, please be aware that this may be subject to such approval.

Procurement Group Background

Thank you for visiting Bedfordshire County Council’s Procurement Group's Internet pages. These are designed to provide you with information as to how we work, how the Council procures a wide range of goods, works and services and the Council’s Regulatory Framework. 

Competition

What we spend

Every year Bedfordshire County Council spends about £250m on external goods and services. The Council has an obligation to make sure that every penny of it is spent prudently, and the Procurement Group is committed to ensuring that is the case. 

Who does what

We have four teams within the Procurement Group, who delivering a quality service. They are as follows:

The Category Review Team led by Paul Thistleton - this team proactively reviews how the Council spends its money on categories of goods and services with a view to delivering innovative sourcing solutions.

The Policy & Client Relationship Management Team led by Richard Harrison - this team is responsible for developing procurement policies and processes and ensuring that they are widely understood and adopted.

The e-Procurement Team led by Nadeem Ghani - this team manages SAP SRM, the council's e-procurement and e-sourcing solution to ensure efficient and effective procurement and sourcing.

The Procurement Analysis Team led by Mike Nacey - keep abreast of how the Council is spending its money and assist the other teams in identifying and exploiting opportunities

What’s their role?

The Procurement Group provide advice and assistance to a ride group of ‘procurers’ / ‘commissioners’ across the Council to ensure that that there is consistency of approach d that we get the best possible deal for the benefit of our customers.
