Information for learners

Welcome to the Information for learners section.

Whether you have already enrolled on one of our courses before or not, this section includes information that you may need to know about joining one of our courses.   We have also included links to further information that will prove useful whilst you are on your course.

Learner Support Fund

If you enrol on a course and would like support with fees and additional costs associated with the course please contact your local office for further information.

Help with course fees

You may be entitled to pay the minimum fee if one of the following applies:

  • 16-18 years old and not in full-time education
  • unemployed and receiving Job Seekers’ Allowance (income based)
  • receiving income-based benefits including Income Support, Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit.
  • Receiving, or the partner of someone receiving Working Tax Credit with a household income of less than £15,050
  • Receiving Pension Credit

Or

  • if you are an unwaged dependant of those listed above.

If you are entitled to pay the minimum fee you will still be responsible for supplying the books and materials needed for your course and for the registration, assessment and examination fees. Reduced Fees (75% of the full fee) are available if you:

  • Are over 60 and do not work for more than 16 hours per week and do not qualify to pay the minimum fee
  • Are in receipt of the Disability Allowance and do not work more than 16 hours a week and do not qualify to pay the minimum fee.

We will ask you to prove your entitlement to a reduced or minimum fee.
